My next Grubby challenge is a skydive for Perennial!
On 2 May, I’ll be joining the Grubby Gardeners to take part in a skydive to raise money for Perennial, the charity that is dedicated to helping horticulturists in need. There are 11 of us brave thrill-seekers, who are set to leap out of a plane at 10,000 ft over Beccles, Norfolk and aim to raise over £2,000 for HortAid 2015 in the process.
As part of this, myself and David Lewis plan to mark World Naked Gardening Day by skydiving wearing as little as possible and leaving nothing to the imagination….. The fearless team also incudes Adele Ford, a double RHS Gold medal winning garden designer and Perennial’s Director of Marketing and Development, Anita Bates.
In case you didn’t know, Perennial helps everyone working in, or retired from horticulture, when illness, disability, injury, bereavement, debt or any one of life’s challenges gets in the way. Perennial provides free and confidential advice and support for as long as it is needed. HortAid is Perennial’s annual fundraising campaign, raising money to help even more horticulturists in need.
£25 could pay for a new school uniform for a child of someone struggling to make ends meet; £50 could pay for a care alarm to be installed for an elderly or disabled client; £200 could fund 10 sessions at a nursery for a baby whose parent is critically ill and £1,000 could buy a new boiler for a family living without hot water or heating.
