Online shopping for gardening products can mean (almost) gardening from your armchair. The convenience of having hefty, messy items delivered right to your door, such as compost, can be really quite tempting. The quality of suppliers and curation of the range can also mean access to some of the best brands at prices more competitive than their own offerings.
The QVC gardening section also runs with quite a few exclusive product ranges too, such as Richard Jackson’s accessories and Plants2Gardens with their unusual, large size shrubs. Online shopping can also help you buy just the plants you want – no more hunting them down in all the garden centres within a 30 mile radius!
QVC isn’t just about the television channel. The online collection boasts hundreds of items, from fertiliser starter packs to fire pits. You may have even caught a few of the on screen presentations, where supplier reps discuss the item, point out the benefits, and show you what it’s like for real. There isn’t always the opportunity to get this level of service in the busy garden centres, or least of all supermarkets and DIY stores, as some locations struggle for knowledgeable horticultural staff.
Here are five surprising picks from the current online portfolio. You may well find yourself muttering ‘I have no idea QVC sold that!’ and we challenge you to find these products in stores!
QVC Gardening: 5 Hidden Gems
LED Flamingo, £20
Flamingoes reached peak fashion once they starred in Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ video – watch it here if you don’t know this awesome song. These intriguing pink birds are fun, frivolous and give a fab pop of pink to any garden.
But, I’ve seen far too many of those cheap flimsy ones. This metal-coated specimen is elegant and won’t look out of place. Furthermore, it doesn’t just glow pink, but it glows from within at night too. This is a solar-powered flamingo!
Installing this LED Flamingo may well inspire you to fix up a water feature in your garden too, just so your new pet feels at home!

Richard Jackson’s Pre-Seeded Plug and Container Magic Kit, £14.98
If you’re doubtful that a box of plants can actually arrive at your door in good condition (P.S. they always do, but I’ll give you a bit of time to make your mind up!), then this is the collection for you!
You won’t have a box of green that you suddenly have to care for. What you’ll get is actually a set of plug modules pre-sown with the very best quality seeds, and of varieties that germinate quickly and easily. You won’t be getting in a muddle spilling seeds with this kit, because that bit has been done for you!
That’s not all though, the 250g bag of Container Magic gets them seeds going super quick and supports them as they develop. This mix has water retaining crystals, which gives you a licence to forget the watering! Furthermore, there’s controlled release fertiliser and beneficial fungi mixed in too. You’ll never grow better!
Choose from the florist favourites, Larkspur and Cosmos, or enjoy the fresh harvests of peppers and tomatoes.

Thompson & Morgan Strawberry Just add Cream Basket Collection, £26.98
Shop-bought strawberries can sometimes lack sweetness, and that’s if they’re even ripe in the first place! But, don’t blame it on the store, it’s actually quite hard to get super sweet strawberries from the stores, as they often have more delicate skins, so don’t transport well.
The only way to TRULY enjoy sweet strawberries is to grow your own, and to choose one that was developed to only need a drop of cream… ‘Just add Cream’ is a bountiful cropper, with up to 1kg of fruit per plant.
Growing strawberries can sometimes be a bit disappointing, and you’ll often find your crop gets thieved by the birds before you even get a chance to eat them yourself. Why not confuse your feathered friends with new ‘Just add Cream’? They’re strawberries with pink blossoms – not the usual bright white!

Polianthes Pink Double, £15.98
Grow one of the components from Chanel No. 5 in your own garden! Snip a few of these for a corsage and you might not even need to wear any perfume… Go on, try it!
Polianthes are not, as it may sound, a type of Polyanthus, but actually an exotic summer bulb. Prized by florists, and often commanding high prices, this awesome collection features the usual white form, but also this sugar pink variation.
You may see the white in stores from time to time, but I doubt you’ll find the pink. That’s part of the QVC difference: offering plants and accessories that are hard to find (and make the neighbours well jel!)

Jennings Lizard Garden Decoration, £16.50
It’s not just plants that make a garden (don’t chastise me for saying it!). Sometimes all you need to show off your personality is an extra garden ornament here or there. And if you have a thing for lizards, then this is perfect!
This is made of metal and hand-decorated with durable paint to survive even the most rainy British summers. Pop it by your back door to ward off spirits, or cats.
