She-Shed

A ‘she-shed’ is place designed with her in mind. It can be anything you want it to be from a place for creativity to relaxation, a place to pursue new hobbies or just a place to escape. There are so many options and in just a few steps an ordinary shed can be transformed into the ultimate she-shed.

Clean out your old shed or buy a new one:

The first step of creating any she-shed is owning one. If you have one that’s great, but you might need to clear it out as, like many of us, your shed is probably quite cluttered. Creating a she-shed is a perfect opportunity to have a big clear out. Once you have had a bit of a sort out, you can now begin to create your own garden hideaway.

If you don’t already have a shed, you can either try building your own or buying a new one. Whether it’s a standard shed, a garden room or one of the contemporary summer houses from GBC there are many options to choose from.

Make use of natural light:

As your she-shed might be quite small, it is best to use the natural light to your advantage. If you are buying or building a new shed, find the brightest area of the garden to build it. It is also a good idea to paint the interior walls in a light and airy colour, as well as hanging mirrors to catch as much of the natural light as possible to make it feel brighter.

Paint the outside:

One easy way to make your she-shed go from ordinary to extraordinary is to give it a fresh coat of paint. Choose your favourite colour or if you’re struggling for inspiration, Pinterest is a great place to start when looking for design and colour palette ideas. Alternatively, if you prefer the rustic look, you can use a wood stain or varnish instead.

Define its use:

She-sheds are not a place to keep your gardening tools, and they are more than a place to hide away. They are a special place for you to relax and do all that you enjoy. Whatever you want to do in your she-shed, just make sure it’s a place you enjoy spending your time in. Whether you want to  use it as a place to learn a new hobby, or a place to hang out with friends, once you define its use you can then decorate it accordingly.

Decorate it inside:

Do you want it to be a place where you can relax in private or hang with your friends? If it’s the latter, you will need to accommodate multiple people, so it is wise to make a nice place for you all to sit! You don’t need to break the bank with expensive furniture; you could look in charity shops for some unique and affordable pieces.

Add personal touches:

Your she-shed should reflect your personality and style and to make it the best garden hideaway. Therefore, it’s a great idea to add some personal touches. You can either bring in some of your favour décor pieces from the inside or go shopping for some more homely bits.

So, there you have it, everything you need to know about creating a she-shed! Why not revamp your current shed, or invest in a new one to create the perfect outdoor living space?
