‘It isn’t all glamour.’ That’s what I spend a lot of my time telling people when they say they admire my job.. Well, truth is it isn’t ALWAYS glamourous. Sometimes (*often) you’re up at 3am to fly, present a show, or (involuntarily) due to jet lag! And, juggling a lot of different roles can be tough too!
However, for the first time ever, I’m inviting you behind the scenes on a day at the HSN studios in Florida, so you can see all the moving parts that go into just a handful of floral minutes! Then, judge for yourself if it’s glamorous or not! Enjoy the slideshow!
The basic motto of HSN is ‘It’s fun here’, which is expressed to viewers and employees!
From the entrance area to the green rooms is one big long corridor, which you’ll walk after a show, either happy or sad…
I love the innovative posters HSN have up around the studio, shame viewers never see them!
It’s hard to imagine these studios become such riots of colour!
There is every prop known to man in the warehouse area!
I wonder which celebrities have been here before??
I am always super happy when I get the more secluded green rooms.. sleeping on set… noooo
Being in the Floridian sun is kinda lovely, and relaxing outside is a must!
Hmm, sometimes they make my hair a little too high in the make up department!
Hmm, I am revealing more and more tattoo on air, but not sure America is ready for full arm yet!
One of the quieter sides of the call centre, which is huge!
When I had a last minute nosebleed on air, I had to be rushed to the studio in a golf buggy!
In the USA, my TomTato is called ‘Ketchup and Fries’, and we sold the dream with our set up here!
TV is sometimes smoke and mirrors, here’s our presentation of the Ketchup and Fries plant
Such a pleasure to bring English favourites to American screens!
Lushness alert! The viewers love seeing us do what we recommend, so eating fruits on set is a must!
We try and represent the mix of a product as best we can, and this blend did the job perfectly!
I love meeting new hosts and exploring the rapport!
Sarah was my very first co-host and we had fun with these sweetly fragrant Peonies!
The top shows what the viewer is seeing, the bottom shows what the cameraman will go to next..
The perfect live set up; cut blooms, growing plant, how the plant is delivered, an image of the plant, and a demo!
Geoff brings the Australian accent out in me, here we are gossiping on air!
