DIGITAL GARDENING REVOLUTION

The digitalisation of gardening expertise has risen to new heights – essential references sites such as gardenersworld.com are now complemented by editorial and opinionated sites from an ever-increasing variety of extremely talented and knowledgeable individuals – all hail the garden bloggers (gloggers?). Bringing this talent to the fore, the Gardeners Unplugged stage at BBC Gardeners’ World Live is a place to see just a few of the most award-winning names. From Mr Plant Geek to family-favourite Lee Connolly, Life at No.27 to Two Thirsty Gardeners, each has their own take on gardening, individual style and buckets of charisma!

HOUSEPLANT MANIA

The houseplant resurgence is hitting the headlines as we’re buying them in our droves. Houseplants complete the look of a room and offer a range of health and well-being benefits. If you’re low on outdoor space, or don’t have any at all, indoor gardening opens a world of opportunities. At BBC Gardeners’ World Live, the Blooming Interiors Stage features houseplant gurus Jane Perrone (On The Ledge presenter and previous Garden editor of Guardian) and yours truly, Mr Plant Geek, with a houseplant edition of the Weird & Wacky Plant Show! And it’s all hosted by Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time expert Matt Biggs. Go on to create your indoor jungle from exhibitors in the Floral Marquee. Then see some specialist demos on care of orchids and succulents at the Demo Bench.

MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY INCH

This is the year that we’re going to be making the most of every inch of garden. If there’s a long ignored, tricky spot in your garden, 2018 is the year to tackle it! But you’re not on your own, don’t worry. At BBC Gardeners’ World Live you can walk through the Wyevale Garden Centres Solutions Garden packed with best-practice and spot-on answers, hear the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine editors and special guests on the Every Space Counts Stage and get your questions answered by famous faces at Q&As on the main theatre and on the Problem Solved! feature sponsored by GreenThumb.

NATURAL GARDENING

As the world is waking up to the impact of our actions, natural gardening is experiencing a surge. Alan Titchmarsh takes to the BBC Gardeners’ World Live Theatre to share his best tips on the subject on Friday 15 June. Add to that, Adam Frost and Mark Lane both guest appear on the Problem Solved! stage sponsored by GreenThumb discussing ‘How to keep your garden naturally healthy without chemicals’ with host David Hurrion. You’ll be able to shop from a range of natural products at the show including Nemaslug and Empathy and meet the Garden Organic team. Keep your garden green and green forthwith!

ENJOY IT, WHATEVER THE WEATHER

Al-fresco entertaining is going to become increasingly all-weather in 2018 an onwards.

Many more practical products are coming on the market including shade sails and awnings. You’ll also see canny designs to create covered areas, to help us enjoy our outdoor space this summertime, come rain or shine, in great British style! Make use of the car collection service at BBC Gardeners’ World Live and you won’t need to set a limit on your shopping!
