Last month, I asked you on Facebook and Twitter what your favourite summer insects have been this year – and you came back with some truly fabulous specimens. A couple of you even sent in photos of sleeping foxes and curious frogs! As a plant geek, it’s in my interest to promote the welfare of our winged, crawling, slithering and buzzing friends – but it’s great to see all of you getting excited about spotting them too!
Let me know which of these is your favourite, and if you’ve spotted any beautiful summer insects in your own gardens.
1. Emma Louise Hutchinson’s bees on Agastache and Nasturtium
2. Dar Sikora’s caterpillar on a Chokecherry
3. Andrew Sharp’s dragonfly on his pond plants
4. Nicola Pescott’s comma butterfly on Verbena
5. Tony Post’s big, loud cicada
6. Darren Carwardine’s rosemary beetle
7. @boo1966x‘s cricket on a Canna lily
Seen any fancy insects livening up your foliage? Comment below and describe them to me – or tweet me @mr_plantgeek!
