If you’re missing the sight of roses in your garden, this is for you. Kordes Rosen – the German rose breeder with a reputation stretching back to 1887 – has delivered something rather special with their latest introduction, Rosa ‘AmiRose’. And yes, it’s every bit as appealing as its name suggests!!

Compact, neat and floriferous, AmiRose is a groundcover floribunda rose that’s perfectly sized for borders, patios and containers. Growing to just 40cm tall, it forms a tidy, bushy mound of glossy green leaves. But the real spectacle is those flowers…!

AmiRose: Colour-shifting blooms with raspberry fragrance

AmiRose buds open to a soft peach, slowly washing into baby pink, then deepening into blush with a darker centre. It’s a colour-changing display that keeps you second-guessing which shade you’ll find each morning. Add to that a fragrance that’s richer and fruitier than your average rose – with a definite hit of raspberry – and you’ve got a plant that simply delights!!

And if you’re into clever plant pairings, Amirose finds its match in Hydrangea paniculata ‘Groundbreaker’. This ground-hugging hydrangea grows to a neat 30–40cm and, from July to November, produces clouds of petite white flowers that gradually blush pink. Side by side, the two create a shifting tapestry of colour through summer and autumn: Amirose with its peach-to-pink blooms, Groundbreaker with its white-to-rose flush. Both stay compact, both flower for months, and both work beautifully as low-maintenance ground cover or container showpieces.

A rose that flowers for five months straight

One of AmiRose’s greatest talents is its stamina. From May right through to October, it doesn’t stop! You can find it blooming in generous clusters without the frustrating gaps many roses take.

Just make sure to deadhead spent blooms, and you’ll be rewarded all summer and autumn.

A pollinator-friendly, and drought-tolerant rose

It’s not just gardeners who’ll fall for AmiRose. Bees and other pollinators adore its open, cupped flowers, making it a wildlife-friendly choice.

And unlike some divas of the rose world, AmiRose has no issue coping with dry spells. Drought tolerant and hardy down to -20°C, it’s got more backbone than its delicate beauty suggests…

Reliable year after year

Plant it once, and AmiRose will keep returning to perform its five-month floral show year after year. With strong disease resistance built in (thank you, Kordes), it’s also refreshingly low-maintenance!

Where to buy AmiRose

If you’re already imagining your garden in shades of peach and pink with raspberry-scented wafts, you’re in luck. AmiRose is available now in the UK from Hayloft Plants and Thompson & Morgan.

It’s rare to find a rose that ticks so many boxes: compact, long-flowering, fragrant, resilient, wildlife-friendly, and genuinely low-fuss. AmiRose might just be one of the most exciting roses to land in UK gardens this year.
