Agapanthus is a plant with a lot of pizazz, but my, they don’t last long! Most agapanthus flower for around six weeks, while some cultivars have been selected to bloom for 10 to 12 weeks. Everpanthus, on the other hand, has an extra long blooming time – 17 weeks from spring right through to late summer!

What’s different about this plant?
Everpanthus is known for its long-lasting and repeat blooming flowers, filling your summer garden with tranquil colour. The series features a palette of soothing purples and creamy whites, with some plants featuring unique bi-coloured blooms that will catch your eye every time you pass by.
- Ever Sapphire – Large, deep blue flowers. Stands out for its early and abundant flowering, beginning in spring and reblooming throughout the summer. 35cm height and spread.
- Ever White – Large, pure white flowers. Stands out for its early and abundant flowering, beginning in spring and reblooming throughout the summer. 35cm height and spread.
- Midnight Sky – The vividly coloured Midnight Sky has a better growth rate than most Agapanthus and produces even more flower heads. Both flowers and buds of Midnight Sky catch the eye right away with their intense, dark indigo colours. 80cm height and 70cm spread.
- Poppin’ Purple – Fantastic purple flowers and a high flower count. Poppin’ Purple has a long flowering period with good rebloom so you can enjoy the intense, burgundy flowers throughout the season. This Agapanthus grows faster than other varieties, and reaches a height of around 60 cm tall and 45 cm wide. It’s also resistant to crown rot/Erwinia.
- Poppin’ Star – Plentiful flower heads and copious striped violet-blue and white blooms, this evergreen charmer will flower for weeks at a time. Like all of its family members, Poppin’ Star has an incredibly long flowering period with good rebloom and with its incredible growth rate you won’t have to wait long to see the first flowers appear. 60cm height and 70cm spread.
- Sparkle – The dark violet-blue and white bi-colour flowers steal the show for weeks in a row, just like its siblings, Sparkle has an extremely long flowering period with strong rebloom. 60cm height and spread.
Not only will these long-flowering plants turn the heads of your friends and neighbours, they’ll also attract pollinators! With its nectar/pollen-rich flowers, it will have bees, butterflies and other insects making a beeline for its blooms.
How were these plants created?
This beautiful Everpanthus series was created by CND Nursery in Sandton, South Africa, where agapanthus originally hail from – hence their common name, the African Lily.
Each plant in the series was selected for unique traits, which include fast growing, early flowering, re-blooming, bi-colour flowers, compact-to-medium-sized plant habit and resistance to crown rot/Erwinia. These vary from plant to plant; for example, only some have those stunning bi-colour blooms.
The inventors have been making crosses to create this series since October 2007, and a few years later, the first successful propagations of the new cultivars were made.
Where can you plant Everpanthus Series?
I recommend planting these agapanthus wherever they can be shown off – perennial borders, patio pots, mixed containers. Even if they’re mixed with other plants, they stand out amongst the rest, not only because of their height, but also their large, colourful flowers.
Where can you buy Everpanthus Series?
You can buy Everpanthus from Hayloft and Thompson & Morgan in the UK, Nezabravka Flowers in the EU, and Breck’s in the US.
